An alcoholic is no stranger to the hospital — detox at the end of every spree, then home again. Many of us were that patient.
Very few doctors know there is somewhere to send us next. When they do, the person in that bed gets more than a discharge slip. They get a way out.
मद्यपीला हॉस्पिटल नवीन नाही — प्रत्येक पिण्याच्या सत्रानंतर डिटॉक्स, मग पुन्हा घरी. आपल्यापैकी अनेक जण तोच रुग्ण होतो.
पुढे कुठे पाठवायचं, हे फार थोड्या डॉक्टरांना माहीत असतं. ते समजलं, की त्या बेडवरच्या माणसाला फक्त डिस्चार्ज स्लिप मिळत नाही — बाहेर पडण्याचा मार्ग मिळतो.
It began as one simple idea: for one morning, members would stand at hospital gates with pamphlets and meeting lists. Written permissions came from 35+ hospitals around Pune. Then word spread — 25+ districts, 11+ states.
On 1st October 2025, around 300 members stood at stalls in 200+ government and private hospitals across India — same day, same time. The news ran in 70+ newspapers. At noon, everyone joined one Zoom call for a few minutes, just to share it.
सुरुवात एका साध्या कल्पनेने झाली: एका सकाळपुरतं सभासदांनी पुस्तिका आणि मीटिंग याद्या घेऊन हॉस्पिटलच्या दारात उभं राहायचं. पुणे परिसरातील ३५+ हॉस्पिटलच्या लेखी परवानग्या मिळाल्या. मग बातमी पसरली — २५+ जिल्हे, ११+ राज्ये.
१ ऑक्टोबर २०२५ रोजी सुमारे ३०० सभासद देशभरातील २००+ सरकारी व खासगी हॉस्पिटलमध्ये स्टॉलवर उभे होते — एकाच दिवशी, एकाच वेळी. ७०+ वृत्तपत्रांत बातमी आली. दुपारी बाराला सगळे काही मिनिटं एका झूम कॉलवर जमले — फक्त तो क्षण वाटून घ्यायला.
The stall runs 9 to 1, like last year. But when we fold it up, two things stay on at the hospital:
स्टॉल गेल्या वर्षीसारखाच — सकाळी ९ ते १. पण यंदा तो आवरल्यावर दोन गोष्टी हॉस्पिटलमध्येच राहतील:
Slowly, a relationship with the doctors grows — until every doctor has the local A.A. helpline saved in their phone, and gives it to the patient who needs it.
हळूहळू डॉक्टरांशी नातं तयार होतं — प्रत्येक डॉक्टरच्या फोनमध्ये स्थानिक ए.ए. हेल्पलाइन सेव्ह होईल आणि गरजू रुग्णाला ती दिली जाईल, इथपर्यंत.
Every stall keeps a register for incoming enquiries — a name, a number, a quiet word. After 1 o'clock, every entry becomes a 12-step call.
प्रत्येक स्टॉलवर येणाऱ्या चौकशींसाठी एक नोंदवही असेल — नाव, नंबर, दोन शब्द. दुपारी एकनंतर प्रत्येक नोंद एक बारा पायऱ्यांचा कॉल बनते.
Every hospital that says yes goes on a list we will maintain actively here on aapune.org — the hospital, what stands there, and which group looks after it. Next year, nobody starts from zero.
होकार देणारं प्रत्येक हॉस्पिटल याच वेबसाइटवर — aapune.org वर — सतत अद्ययावत ठेवल्या जाणाऱ्या यादीत नोंदवलं जाईल: हॉस्पिटल, तिथे काय आहे, आणि कोणता ग्रुप ते सांभाळतो. पुढच्या वर्षी कोणालाही शून्यापासून सुरुवात करावी लागणार नाही.
